pentecost musings

we hear strange languages
but we understand

people who once did not understand now understand

this week in ordinary time
is colored with the
light and heat
of the Holy Spirit

the same spirit
that "created the world"

breath of God

it cannot be bad breath
can it?

still the whole of
creation groans

to act as an artist
inspired
with the life of God
creating
as one perceives
God creating

to work with
the reality of the world
before us
not with the idea
that it must somehow
be conquered

to gain dominion
will be a matter of
acknowledging
the fragility and vulnerablity
but also the
dogged determination
of life
to live as if the moment
contains
all of life
