it is a rare occurrence these days
when television can offer something
worth viewing and thinking about
even public television has become
rather obsessed with ideas and values
which are revulsive to me
a typical day seems to be
a morning dedicated to children
an afternoon of cooking or nature viewing
evenings of comedy or drama from england
(it appears that nothing of worth has been filmed in this country
or that we have this wierd predilection for english mannerisms)
even the lehrer report is defined
by an endless sequence of babbling experts
and very little by way of news story reporting
so to be able to catch BILL MOYERS at his best
is a relief
PBS comes through with someone who seems
to know what he is about and knows the real worth
of the issues
this evening mr moyers interviewed two political
commentators
bruce fein and john nichols
both of whom are calling for impeachment proceedings
against george w bush and richard cheney
again
rare it is that i am in full agreement with
anything i see hear of read in the media
but i could not help being amazed at
both the candid justification of views
and the ample scholarly substance to support
the opinions held by these two political scholars
the sad judgment is that:
there are no constitutionally astute
leaders in either chamber of representation
we are a nation devoid of intellectual insight
in our "democracy"
if there were such
they would be standing up and calling for an end
to the monstrous corruption
promulgated by the likes of karl rove
in essence they argued that this administration
has been in violation of fundamental constitutional
principles and continues to "rule" with monarchic arrogance
with little knowledgeable resistance from the
representational bodies of government
in short
both men betrayed strong arguments
for the immediate impeachment of both
the president and the vice president
it is doubtful that this will happen
before the next election
but again
both men insisted that if legislators were awake
nothing would matter more than
fixing the broken rudder
of our government ship
the IMPEACH BUSH platform is a just one
GORE VIDAL called for bush's impeachment
shortly after 9/11
gone are the days when the voice of the prophet is
heard in our land
the spectacle has become too powerful
the people are drugged
every city and town should boast
a bill moyers..his is a voice calling in the wilderness
but he persists
the well articulated theme for tonite
"wake up people! it is your government!
impeachment is a constitutional medication
that must be used!"
