there are three lady bugs in my room
and i have made the agreement
to cohabitate with them
one hangs out near my sink
another wanders around my desk
and yet another is near the head of my bed i
have heard her
flitting about landing with a quiet
thit
i suppose they will eventually
make it over to the window
and die
i think these lady bugs
are perfect insects
they are clean and harmless
if we must share the space
of my monastic cell
well so be it
these ladies are delightful
and innocuous
i must watch so i don't step
on them or ignore their
very tiny needs

this morning
as i washed my face
i was aware of one lady bug
swirling around in the water and
she went down the drain
as sood as i turned the spicket off
i was wondering if the ladybug would have the wherewithall
to survive at least as far down
as the treatment plant
but hen i realized that in fact there must have been 4
lady bugs for even then
i counted 3 again
two must have found a
playground near my sink
maybe more under the
cups and nicknacks
of my washup area
fall has turned very chilly
