i knew o i knew many things as i drove
i knew the landscape once again i knew the thoughts
of my mind i knew and continue to know
my fascination with our shared life
i met new people and i laughed and cried a bit
with old friends
but now i must go play my guitar at the local farmer's market
and there i will know the continuing journey
the stumbling pilgrimage
of desire

welcome back my friend
let's hear that twang
i have not held a guitar
in over a month
i should remedy that situation today
before the jam session tomorrow
sally
remember the alternating bass with the thumb
real slow like
and then a little melody on top of that
there it's the blues
everybodys gots em somewhere somehow
collegeville station tonite sans dave
he's taken flight like a nervous bird through various groves of trees he's off with his own songs
we'll see what happens
what kind of music comes about
it's hard to lead a whole nights worth of music but we'll see
collegeville station is teetering again whoa nelly grab them guitars there's a dust storm stirrin up run for cover boys theres a musical lightening storm about to commence all aboard get that steam engine stoked boys we're leavin town whooooooh whoooooh
yeah
stay tuned to live music in your ear

Welcome back, J.
If I didn't have five pets and a husband I'd love to pack up some bags and travel to nowhere in particular except somewhere, just to drive around and meet people for a little while.
sophia--that's a cool blog you've got
jh--
aargh i'm afraid much of that
fingerpicking lesson
has escaped me
i'll try to get it back
but at sunday's jam
i was pretty much reduced to strumming
and plucking an occasional bass note
but i think i gave
a convincing rendition
of cold missouri waters
marianne (she of the autoharp)
asked about you
"you know who i miss?"
she asked--"brother john"
i had been thinking myself
how great it would be
if you were close enough
that you could drop by more often
for dinner and music
or just hanging out and chatting
beautiful fall weather
in crestline this morning
clear and windy
dry leaves scuttling
along the road
but the wind is hot and dry
down here in san bernardino
pray that the arsonists
are too lazy to go to work
(if you can call throwing
a lighted match out a window work)
john & i are off to lake tahoe
this weekend for a geology conference
should be a pretty drive (but long)
up the owen's valley
the cottonwoods will probably be golden
keep those trains a rumbling
through the station
i can hear the whistle blowing
Thanks, Sally.
