reason
you
were
fine
is
because
you
have
(probably the default)
setting
of
iso-latin1
as
the
text
encoding.
I'm
not
saying
this
is
wrong,
but
it
does
enable
folks
who
can't
be
bothered
to
do
the
right
thing
.
