time inflated

time extended
time made sure
time for the clear message
time for the meaning that
somehow matters
christmas time extended

today we celebrated a funeral
it was a joyous welcoming home
for a learned monk
and we sang christmas carols

it is a great feeling
to carry the moods and the
spirit of the season beyond
the framework of instantaneous
distraction

it has been a time of letting
it all soak in
again
the seeming madness
of the message from heaven
god is more than willing to be one of us
and more than willing
to grant us access to his
existence

i'm still in the story
i'm still willing to believe
i'm still willing
to weigh
the righteous word
the word of summed up salvation
all neat and logical and crazy like love

it occurs to me
that the milieux of john the baptist
and jesus
for their first
and then their most important meeting
was
water

water of the womb
water of the jordan
