new post

thoughts on the blogosphere

you can take it or leave it

it doesn't change anything

information abounds

it has replaced the written personal journal
(for most people)

topics range from politics to religion
to pornography to banality to finance to
poetry to language theory
to god knows what

it is a form of focused distraction

people putsing around

the probabilities of response
or intelligent interaction are
determined by shared interest
or personal relationship

you can stop blogging
but what you've presented
will be there forever
forever
there's no erasing the blog
until the electricity goes off
even then
everything is "stored"

humans love to be amused

blogging is fun for some
amusing for others
habitual to some degree
a way to pass the time

it's a web mall of private interest

little is gained

if blogging were to end
few would notice

time is not wasted
if you are acting
in a completely innocuous fashion

the computer satisfied the need
to have immediate results

the computer is not conducive to reflection
although some will reflect

the scope of intelligence
of topics and issues of
at least some importance to the
common progress of humanity
ranges from something as difficult
as post modern philosophical theory
to the joys of raising children
to the musings of adolescent lovelorn girls
to crass business
to social issues
to politics
to travel
to family affairs
to poetry
to god knows what

blogging is a way of communication
if only to oneself

words and concepts printed
by means of electric pulses through
silicon chips and recorded
in computers
perhaps copied

there's no point to it at all
that is why we do it

it is a peaceful activity
if not conducive to a greater
worldwide peace

ideas abound

from incoherent babble
to clear and distinct ideas

i could blog the summer away
but i won't

two or three blogs i enjoy-

Inspiring blog. I'm probably going to get back to blogging soon when we upgrade our computer at Bedrock, which is supposedly in the works. Oh, and summer has finally arrived in Montana. Took a while.

what is it about a spurt of busyness
that, when it is ended, leaves one feeling
like nothing seems worthwhile or meaningful?

have i gotten out of synch with myself, with God,
during this rushed week of training summer interns
and dealing with students from last quarter
who claim to have turned in assignments
for which i didn't give them credit?

today i finally have time to sit down
and work on a research paper that i have been
wanting to work on all week
and, now that i have the time,
it no longer seems like a fun or exciting thing to do

so, of course, i will blog
or comment on your blog, instead
